The origin of Bhagsu Nag Temple is tied to a legendary story involving King Bhagsu and the Snake King, Nag Devta. According to local folklore, King Bhagsu sought water for his drought-stricken kingdom and took water from the sacred Nag Dal Lake. Upon being challenged by Nag Devta, a battle ensued, leading to King Bhagsu's defeat. Honoring the king's final wish, Nag Devta declared that the location would forever be known as Bhagsu Nag and that the natural spring would provide water to the region.
