Saurabh Van Vihar is a nature park developed by the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department, located in the scenic town of Palampur in the Kangra Valley. The park was established in honor of the brave Indian Army officer Captain Saurabh Kalia, who was martyred during the Kargil War in 1999. Situated on the banks of the snow-fed Neugal Khad, this park is spread over 35 acres (some sources mention 13 km of area) and offers a panoramic view of the majestic Dhauladhar Range.
The park is home to over 151 species of plants, including several medicinal herbs, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and bird watchers alike. Visitors can enjoy a range of attractions here, including boating, an open-air theatre, the Tiger Hill Bridge, a Children's Park, a Bamboosetum, and health trails. Café Monal, located within the park, is a popular spot for refreshments.
The park remains open daily from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with an entry fee of approximately ₹20 per person. It has become a popular destination for picnics, family outings, and weekend getaways, and also serves as a proud memorial to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.
